Sir,

C. M. S. House,

10013

West Point, Hongkong, Pro?

October 17th., 1997.APR C3)

I have the honour to address you on behalf

of the Church Body of the Chinese Anglican Church in Hongkong

with reference to the removal of the Church at Kowloon, as agreed

upon in your letter of August 9th., 1901. The Church Missionary

Society propose to vest the new site, and the Church to be

erected thereon in the Church Body of the Chinese Anglican

Church in Hongkong recently incorporated by Ordinance No. 18 of

1902.

In view of the increasing numbers of

the Christian community in and around Kowloon, and in view of

the needs of the future, the Church Body of the Chinese

Anglican Church propose to build a larger Church than the

existing one. In view of this enlargement we find the original

site too small for the erection of the Church and clergyman's

residence. On behalf therefore of the Church Body I have the

honour to petition His Excellency the Governor to grant the

additional piece of land as shown on the tracing enclosed. The

portion enclosed in blue lines on the red section of tracing

is the amount of land granted equivalent to the old site, and

the whole area of the red section shows the amount of land which

we beg His Excellency to grant.

Trusting that you will be able to recom-

mend His Excellency to look favourably upon this request,

I have etc., (Sd.) W. Banister,

Archdeacon of Hongkong.
